Nashville, Hendersonville, and Murfreesboro TN

March 23rd

It did not feel much like Spring, but the entire Volunteer State supported Project U.S.  on this collection drive.  The huge Western Express Trucks, Kroger Food Stores, WSM AM/FM and WWTN plus all the volunteers manning the sites made for another highly successful collection of morale items for our troops and their families.

We also want to especially thank the 332 USAF Recruiting Squadron for their support and the TN State USAF ROTC Cadets for helping as well.

The three sites gathered thousands of pounds of items that were take to the Tom Barrow Company Warehouse on Sunday and when combined with previously collected items from earlier in the month amounted to well over 15,000 pounds.

Monday, March 25th two trucks departed -- one to Ft. Campbell and one to Charleston AFB.  The garrison commander met us with the delivery at Ft. Campbell and expressed his gratitude to the volunteer state for such unwavering support.

Tuesday, March 26th the State 4-H Congress met in War Memorial auditorium and presented us with over 6,000 items and more than 500 notes and cards they had collected from around the state.

In short, Project U.S. has now grown from a small beginning with only a couple of churches and 3 schools participating to a state-wide endeavor.  Each and everyone of you are making a difference in some soldier's life.

The next collection will be centered around the Pepsi 300 on April 13th at the Nashville Super speedway.  Keep listening to those great radio stations -- WWTN/WSM AM/FM for more details.
